First Generation Students at WC
What makes you a first-generation college student?
A first-generation college student is defined as a student whose parent(s)/legal guardian(s) have not completed a bachelor鈥檚 degree.
Being first-generation is a very proud accomplishment. We recognize that you will face unique experiences as you begin this exciting journey, and we look forward to supporting you.
What can I do on campus?

- Join a club!
- Not sure what events are going on for students? Check out the Student Events BoardCalendar. If you鈥檙e passing by in Hodson Hall, you鈥檒l always see the next upcoming events.
Need academic support?
The Office of Academic Support is located on the top floor of Miller Library. This is where you go if you need accommodations for class (note taker, etc.) or if you need test accommodations. They also help coordinate peer tutors along with course mentoring.
We also have the Writing Center which is located on the first floor of Goldstein Hall. This is where you would go if you need help with an essay or your thesis.
Worried about your math homework or having an exam coming up? Don鈥檛 worry, you can always check out the Quantitative Skills Center which is located on the first floor of Miller Library.
Questions about Career and Job opportunities?
Make sure that you visit our colleagues in , located in the Rebecca Corbin Loree Center next to Goldstein Hall. They can answer any questions you might have about your future career, from building your resume, to internship opportunities, and more!
